Review Paris Cat Gig

Review of Paris Cat Gig

The band opened the gig with Adam Rudegeair’s new up-tempo arrangement of Two Sleepy People. Then Lyn Gillett took to the stage and tugged at our heartstrings with her wonderful renditions of the songs written by Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer. A verbal description cannot do justice to this performance.
The harmony between the instruments and the singer was flawless, with no-one dominating another. It was a rare pleasure to listen to drummer, Silas Gibson, who played so sensitively and didn’t feel the need to drown out the vocals. Adam Spiegl, as always, was wonderful on bass, and Adam Rudegeair had his old happy face back on whilst wowing us with his new arrangements.
And then there was Lyn. I don’t know how to describe the goose bumps, the tears, the smiles or the pathos Lyn evokes in her audience. You just have to listen to her in the flesh. This diva injects a “knowing” into her music. She doesn’t merely sing the songs: she emotes the songs because she has lived the lyrics.
I can’t wait for her album to be released.
